Senior IT Manager
Joe Shamblin manages IT operations in Duke's Department of Computer Science, where he oversees a compute cluster of 150+ nodes and roughly 300 GPUs running Slurm and Open OnDemand. His current work includes AI enablement across the university -- from architecting AI chatbots and building MCP server integrations to leading Copilot Studio and AI workflow workshops for Duke IT staff and leadership. He has built several AI applications and GPU monitoring tools for the Duke Compute Cluster. Joe previously led a CS+ team that deployed computer vision models on NVIDIA Jetson Nano devices for real-time bird species identification. Before Duke, he was a senior systems administrator at NandO.net, one of the earliest online news platforms. He holds a B.S. in Physics from UNC Asheville.
