Description:

A team of Duke students will collaborate with OIT to define and develop an issue reporting app. The team will define the features necessary for the application and use the latest tools & technologies to develop an prototype app to report issues that need to be addressed (simple things like poor wifi coverage, broken window, suspicious activity, etc.).

I am a Duke student born and raised in El Salvador. I have been a sports fanatic ever since I was a little kid. Personally, I love to play soccer, run, and ski. My academic interests took longer to develop, however. I knew I wanted to do something STEM-related, but never really knew what. Now I know that I love Computer Science and Engineering. On a more social note, I enjoy meeting and talking with people I don't know. I love music and everything it encompasses; I play the guitar myself too. I am excited to take on life, learn as much as I can, and have fun while at it.

Rising Senior

My name is Ann Bailey and I am a rising senior studying philosophy and computer science. I am from Arlington, Virginia and love all that my hometown has to offer with its close proximity to Washington, DC. On campus, I serve on the executive board of Duke's Honor Council and will be joining a Bass Connections project on computer science education in the fall. I'd love to someday find a way to combine my interests in ethics and computer science in the professional world. In my free time I enjoy exercising, going to concerts, being with my friends and family, and cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies!

Major:
Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science
Class:
Rising Junior

My name is Duc (pronounced "Duck") Tran and I am a sophomore majoring in electrical and computer engineering and computer science. I was born in Vietnam, but my family moved to and settled in South Carolina when I was 2. Growing up I was always fascinated by technology weather it be remote control toy cars I had as a kid or the first smart phone I got in middle school, so in high school when I had the opportunity to take my first engineering and computer science class and actually learn about how these devices worked, I knew exactly what career field I wanted to be apart of. Besides that, I am an avid gamer and movie goer (no horror movies though) and a member of the Duke Taekwondo sports club.

Computer Science
Minor:
Statistical Science, Economics
Class:
Rising Sophomore

I’m currently a freshman at Duke, and I’m from Fairfax, Virginia. I’m planning to pursue a major in computer science and a minor in statistics. I’m interested in the intersection between technology and medicine and hope to pursue a career in medicine in the future. I also enjoy exploring how machine learning and computer vision shape healthcare. This summer, I’m working on the app for reporting issues on Duke’s campus project.
