AsteXT Database: Exploring Asian American Literature Through Technology.
Description
This project focuses on designing and developing the database branch of AsteXT, a computational humanities initiative bridging Asian American literature with digital research tools. The goal is to create an open-access platform for analyzing and exploring Asian American short stories from 1974 to 2024. The platform will feature a public interface for keyword and semantic searches, data visualizations, and data exports, as well as a contributor interface for managing and updating the database.
A team of students will work with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and project stakeholders to define requirements and develop the system. The platform will be used by educators, researchers, students, and the public, providing tools to analyze literary works, identify patterns, and gain deeper insights into Asian American literature, all without requiring technical expertise.
