Home Network Defense via the STINGAR Project

Description

Year: 2021

A team of students will work with Duke’s Office of Information Technology to explore options for securing home networks in a remote working/learning environment. The goal of this project is to provide a simple and effective method for detecting malicious traffic targeting home users. This project will involve identifying potential solutions for blocking malicious traffic to and from home networks, integrating the STINGAR malicious indicator feeds into this solution for automated blocking of network events, and building a proof-of-concept that can be easily and effectively deployed on a home network to detect and block malicious traffic in an automated fashion.
